I love this quote, because it reminds me to think and talk about myself less. It reminds me that there’s a wide world out there full of people who care very little about knowledge, intellect, skill, status, power, money… More than anything, people want to be loved and understood. To stare them in the eyes and sincerely say, “Yes, I understand you” is quite a remarkable human skill.
We care about our cars, degrees, houses, achievements, fancy holidays and even fine dining, but nothing holds a candle to how we treat our fellow man. To get our eyes off ourselves and self-centred ambitions (don’t worry, we all have them) and onto the great mission to make others greater. Humility is a virtue, and rare to come across in our selfie world, yet it is a powerful way for us to connect with each other and truly strive to serve one another.
Remember, nobody cares what we do or what we know, but how we make them feel. Powerful stuff!
