It’s a new year and there’s a lot of talk about resolutions, vision, goal-setting and dreaming big. I’m all for being a little strategic in how you live your life and most certainly, aligning your life with God’s plan. But let’s not get so caught up in our own selfish desires that we forget the big picture.
Whether you’re five, forty or on your way to heaven, I see it this way. Our “life goal” should always be this:
- Knowing God, becoming intimate with Him
- Being transformed and made into the likeness of Christ
- Sharing His love with the world – the great commission
That pretty much sums it up. We really need to stop fretting over things like, “What is my calling?” and “What is this special purpose God has for me?” Like seriously, stop. Please. For the love of God.
I know everyone likes to think they’re special and yeah, we all are in God’s eyes. When He made you, God did in fact think, “Well, [insert your name here] is pretty spesh!”
So. Let’s make 2019 the year to stop obsessing over your life vocation.
“Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross, and follow me.”
Matthew 16:24 NLT
